Rossland NewsRossland Range Recreation Site COVID–19 Impacts

March 24, 2020

Cabins Closed (except for emergency use) & Trails Open

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our volunteers, visitors and partners. We are taking steps in coordination with our partner, Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC), and following the advice of provincial health experts to support the Province of British Columbia in its effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 in communities and at the provincial level.

Effective immediately, RSTBC and therefore FORRs is temporarily closing recreation facilities where there is a risk of increased social contact and contact with frequently touched surfaces (e.g. our day use shelters).  While our trails are still open, use of the Rec Site day use shelters are closed except for emergency use, and they will be signed as such in the coming days.

The Rossland Range Recreation Site is such an important recreation area for our region, and it’s especially valuable in today’s world. When using trails, visitors are reminded that they are responsible for their own safety and should follow all measures recommended by the Provincial Health Officer to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

For information on about COVID-19, how to protect yourself, your family and your community and what to do if you suspect you have the virus please visit the BC Centre for Disease Control’s website.

We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate as changes warrant.

Thank you.
