Jenny Baillie is a renowed Rossland artist, creating paintings on canvas and paper. Her art features acrylic and water colour images inspired by Rossland and the West Kootenay Mountains.
“The Great Outdoors” is my Muse. I began painting 20 or so years ago in response to a mid-life crisis…… beginning with watercolour but now work primarily with acrylic. Mountains and flowers were my initial subject of choice; presently I include portraits of wild animals especially BEARS – and historic women mostly mountaineering related…occasionally I paint a Super Hero. With the assistance of many workshops, books and videos – and much experimentation – I am essentially ‘self-taught’. I have exhibited in many shows within the West Kootenay and many of my paintings have found homes throughout Canada and the United States – also in Australia and New Zealand.”
